Bruno Gironcoli
Museum Herberstein
Graz
Established in 2004 until 2023 on the initiative of the Herberstein family, the Bruno Gironcoli Museum in Styria was designed by architect Herbert Eisenköck, combining the adaptation of a historic barn with a contemporary extension. The museum holds the most extensive collection of Gironcoli’s sculptures, spanning from his early polyester works of the 1960s to the monumental pieces created between 1990 and 2003.
In addition to presenting Gironcoli’s oeuvre, the museum has organized a series of exhibitions that place his work in dialogue with that of other artists. These include contributions from internationally recognized figures such as Erwin Wurm, representatives of a younger generation such as Constantin Luser, as well as Gironcoli’s distinguished student Peter Sandbichler.
