The exhibition βπππ°π³π¦π΄π΅π’β curated by Paola Santos Coy, Violeta Celis y Rodrigo Torres proposes a dialogue between the work of David Alfaro Siqueiros and a selection of twelve contemporary artists based in Mexico, based on the notion of nature as a field of aesthetic and political contention.
Taking as its starting point the way in which the βtropicalβ has historically been constructed as an image of otherness, the exhibition critically reexamines this category to consider the landscape as a territory of resistance, memory, and the projection of possible futures. In dialogue with the first-ever presentation of Flora Alucinante (1968β1970)βextracted from the mural composition in the Siqueiros Public Art Gallery and accompanied by Floresta Tropical (1973)β the exhibition brings together painting, sculpture, video, and photography by Alejandra Venegas, Cleste, David Alfaro Siqueiros, Denise Julieta, Enrique MacΓas, Ernesto Solana, Galia Eibenschutz, Javier Barrios, Juan Carlos LeΓ³n, Lorena Ancona, Melanie Smith, Rafiki SΓ‘nchez, and Scott GalvΓ‘n.
